Self Test - How's My Driving?
Vision
Good vision is essential for driving. Many people typically
report a decline in their vision as they age. Do you have
any of these symptoms of declining vision?
- Problems reading highway or street signs, or recognizing
someone you know across the street?
- Trouble seeing lane lines, pavement markings, curbs
or medians during dawn, dusk or at night?
- Increasing discomfort recovering from the glare of oncoming
headlights at night?
Tips For Staying Safe Behind the Wheel
- Make sure you always wear your glasses and that your
prescription is current. If you lose or break your glasses,
do not use an old pair. Replace them right away with your
newest prescription.
- Drive during daylight hours. Avoid driving at dawn,
dusk and at night.
- Dont darken or tint your car windows, or wear
tinted lenses at night.
- Keep your windshield, mirrors and headlights clean.
Make sure your headlight aim is checked when your car
is inspected.
- If you are 60 or older, see an eye doctor every year
to check for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration,
diabetic retinopathy and other conditions associated with
aging.
